Handling Precautions

Daily Care
  • After use, wash with neutral detergent and sponge, wipe dry thoroughly, and let air dry.
If You Burn the Pot
  1. Pour lukewarm water into the burnt pot.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and stir.
  3. Add a small amount (2-3 drops) of cooking oil.
  4. Heat the pot and when it boils, turn off the heat. (At this point, baking soda + cooking oil acts like soap.)
  5. Leave for several hours, then when cooled, discard the contents and wash with a sponge. For severe burns, repeat several times. (※Baking soda may reduce the enamel's shine)
About Rust
  • Due to the enamel manufacturing process, there are areas where glaze does not fully cover, such as edges (rim areas) where steel plates are cut, hanging marks and placement marks from firing hooks during production. Additionally, when the glass surface chips due to impact or dropping, the iron base (dull silver color) may be exposed. If moisture, acid, or salt remains on these areas, rust may occur.
Handling Instructions
  • Cannot be used in microwave or on IH cooktops.
  • The main body (enamel) can be used on direct flame.
  • When using on direct flame or in ovens, always use oven mitts or kitchen towels.
  • Cannot be used in dishwashers.
  • The seal lid cannot be used on direct flame, in ovens, or in dishwashers.
  • The enamel surface is glass-like. Do not subject to impact or dropping.
  • After use, wash and dry thoroughly.
  • Do not use metal scrubbers, cleansers, or detergents containing abrasives as they will scratch the surface.
  • As these are handcrafted items, individual variations exist.

More information

Japanese craft history

Noda Horo is a manufacturer dedicated exclusively to enamelware since its founding. They weld steel plates to create the foundational shape, then apply glass-like glaze by hand to each piece before firing at high temperatures. They are the only company in Japan to handle all processes of enamelware production in-house. Products are manufactured in Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture, and everything (including components) is made in Japan.

Handling & care

Enamelware is a material created by firing glass-like glaze onto metal surfaces. It combines strong but rust-prone iron with beautiful but fragile glass, creating a composite material that harnesses the strengths of both - durability and beauty. Compared to plastic containers, it offers superior durability, eliminates concerns about food odor transfer, and can be cherished for long-term use.
