Handling Precautions

About This Product
  • Fine cracks will appear on the surface with use. This is called "crazing" and is a characteristic unique to ceramics. The color of the clay appears through the cracks, which is particularly noticeable on white pieces.
  • Due to the characteristics of the raw clay and glaze materials, there may be slight differences in size, shape, color, texture, and weight among individual products.
Handling
  • Microwave safe.
  • Dishwasher safe.
Usage Precautions
  • Cannot be used on direct flame.
  • May break if dropped or subjected to impact.
  • Metal scrubbers or detergents containing abrasives may scratch the surface.
  • Mold may develop if excessive moisture is retained.
Care Method
  • Clean with dishware detergent and rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Use a soft sponge when washing.
  • After use, wash thoroughly and dry completely before storing.

No Need to Dig Grooves with a Toothpick

Regular suribachi (mortar bowls) have fine grooves that inevitably trap ingredients, requiring you to tap them out or dig the grooves with a toothpick - making cleanup somewhat troublesome. By removing these grooves and creating a flat bottom surface with steeper sides than conventional designs, we've made it easier to grind ingredients while preventing them from escaping outside the bowl. Without grooves, ingredients don't get trapped and can be easily removed, making washing much simpler.

Sturdy Base - No Need to Hold the Rim

The wide, sturdy base has a slightly textured surface that prevents slipping and provides excellent stability. Unlike traditional suribachi where you'd normally need to hold the rim while using, this design allows you to grind firmly with both hands.

From Kitchen to Table

With its beautiful design suitable as tableware, you can grind sesame seeds and serve the sesame-dressed dish directly at the table. The spout design also makes it perfect for holding homemade sauces and dressings, or for gradually adding dashi broth to pots during cooking.
