This is a palm kitchen brush made by Broom Craft, a workshop in Wakayama. You can use detergent with it, and the flexibility of the palm will quickly remove oily stains and other stuck-on dirt from your dishes. The ends are cut diagonally and flat, so you can use them in different ways.

The company is Shinkai Sangyo, which has been making palm ropes in Kainan, Wakayama Prefecture. Broom Craft was launched in 2020 to use the same palm to make traditional tools such as brooms. Kainan was originally a major producer of everyday items such as scrubbing brushes and brooms. Utilizing the procurement routes and discerning skills cultivated through palm rope production in this area, the company produces easy-to-use and beautiful cleaning tools using selected palm. *Please be careful not to scrub too hard as this may cause scratches.

Handling Precautions

  • For oil stains, use the diagonally cut end.
  • For stubborn dirt, use the flat cut end.
  • Scrubbing too hard may cause scratches.
  • As natural palm fiber is used, powder and palm fibers may fall off initially. If this concerns you, lay down newspaper and shake off the powder and palm fibers thoroughly before use.
  • If the copper wire breaks, stop using immediately as it may cause injury.
  • As this is a handmade product, size and shape may vary slightly.
  • As a characteristic of natural fiber, the bristle tips may curl when dry. If this concerns you, lightly dampen and let dry before use. You can also trim the bristle tips with scissors if needed.
  • After use, store in a cool place away from direct sunlight.

Reduce stress by first removing any remaining dirt from dishes and pots

The most stressful part of washing dishes is removing the obvious stains, such as curry or stew left on the plate, the fine skin and bones left after eating grilled fish, or the small amount of pasta sauce or potato salad left on the plate. When using the dishwasher, you need to remove the stains first, and you are especially hesitant to rinse oily stains with your hands or use a sponge directly on them. This kitchen brush is designed to quickly remove such stains. The long handle allows you to use it without directly touching the stain, and the flexibility of the stiff palm and the moderate cut allow it to remove stains along the corners and curved surfaces of the dishes. Since it is made of the same material as a scrubbing brush, you can wash it by itself with detergent, or after removing the obvious stains, you can wash it with a sponge or in the dishwasher. It is recommended to use the diagonal cut side for stains such as oil and sauce, and the flat side that is easy to apply force to remove stubborn stains and stuck-on stains. The brush can stand on its own when the flat side is facing down, so you can stand it upright to dry and keep it clean when not in use.

A simple yet well-thought-out design developed with the user in mind

The unique shape is simple at first glance, but when you use it, you will find that it is designed to fit perfectly with the dishes and cooking utensils you use every day. This was born from the perspective of the user, who realized while doing housework that "a slanted cross section of the brush is easier to use!" It is a patented design exclusive to Broom Craft. It is made of carefully selected, firm palm. The texture of the natural material fits in well with modern kitchens.
