A medium-sized broom with a diagonal cut for indoor use, made from palm bark.
This medium-sized palm broom from Broom Craft, made in a workshop in Wakayama, is made from rolled and bundled palm skin with loosened tips. It is compact with five balls* and the tips are cut at an angle. Its size makes it easy to move around between furniture and in corners of rooms. The carefully selected palm has a firm and resilient texture and catches fine dust, making it recommended for use on flooring. *The bundles that hold the palm skin together are called "balls." The more balls there are, the wider the broom will be, and the larger the area it can sweep.
Quiet and quick to use, no dust raised
This broom does not use electricity and does not make noise, so you can take it out and clean whenever you want, and it is a great product that can be used on solid wood floors without damaging them. The carefully selected palm is firm and flexible, contains oils, and can collect dust without stirring it up. The fibers bend and move naturally along the grooves of flooring, tatami mats, baseboards, and sashes, so you can minimize moving furniture when cleaning. To care for it, simply brush off the dust on the bristles after each use. Since it is made of the same material as a scrubbing brush, it can be washed with a neutral detergent if it gets very dirty. (In that case, after washing, comb it with a wide-toothed comb and dry it in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight. Also, do not wet it with water as the copper wire may rust.) It is also recommended for those who want to clean frequently, those who want to clean at night, those who have children, and those who are concerned about pet hair loss. You can complete your cleaning with just this one, but you can also use it in combination with a robot vacuum cleaner during the day and a broom at night to clean up problem areas, or use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the dust collected by the broom. The 5-ball medium is sized to easily reach narrow gaps that are difficult to clean, so you can place it lying down under a bed or desk, or vertically between furniture or between the refrigerator and the wall. In addition, it can be used by adults with both hands or one hand without bending over, so it is relatively easy on the body.
A leather broom that lets you enjoy the texture of natural palm
Palm brooms are said to have existed since before the Edo period, and have been used mainly in Western Japan. Leather brooms are made by rolling and bundling palm skin peeled from palm trees, then loosening the tips. The fibers do not spread easily, allowing you to enjoy a unique texture. Brand new leather brooms will shed palm powder, so we recommend using them on hardwood floors rather than tatami mats or carpets. When you first start using a broom, brush the tips of the brooms with your hand outdoors or on a newspaper to remove the powder before use. The powder will gradually settle over time.
A cleaning tool brand created by palm connoisseurs
It is made by Shinkai Sangyo, which has been making palm ropes in Kainan, Wakayama Prefecture. Broom Craft was launched in 2020 to use the same palm to make traditional tools such as brooms. Kainan is originally a major producer of everyday items such as scrubbing brushes and brooms. Utilizing the procurement routes and discerning skills cultivated through palm rope production in this area, they create easy-to-use and beautiful cleaning tools using selected palm. *Palm fibers will fall off when you first use it. Brush off the fibers outside before using. We recommend using it on a flooring at first, where it is easier to sweep up the fallen fibres.
