Takayama Chasen by Tango Tanimura of Wabokudo.
This chashaku (tea scoop) is crafted by Tanimura Tango of Wabokudo. It features the nakabushi (middle node) style – with the bamboo joint positioned at the scoop's centre – said to have been established as the standard form by Sen no Rikyu.
【Tango Tanimura】
Born in Takayama, Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture in 1964, he is the twentieth-generation head of the Tanimura family, preserving the same ancestral secrets passed down through direct lineage.
Takayama has been a major chasen production centre since the Muromachi period. The Wabokudo Tanimura family has continued chasen crafting for over 500 years, earning the "Tango" name from the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period.
