The whetstones in the Knife Workshop Series are medium-sized designed for easy home use. You can choose from four different grits, from #400 for repairing chipped blades to #3000 for finishing work.

This is a set including the #800 whetstone for daily maintenance and a whetstone base. Using the whetstone base provides more stable knife sharpening. Other Tadafusa's Knife Workshop whetstones with different grits can also be set on this base.

Handling Precautions

Important Notes
  • As you sharpen the knife, a sticky sharpening slurry will appear on the whetstone surface. This slurry is necessary for properly sharpening the knife and creating a sharp edge. Do not wash away the slurry with water; instead, add water gradually while sharpening on top of the slurry.
  • Sharpening with too steep an angle makes the blade edge obtuse and difficult to maintain later. Develop the habit of proper sharpening technique.
  • Do not apply excessive force when sharpening knives. Excessive force can cause your hand to slip and result in injury from the blade.
