Shigaraki ware is counted among Japan's Six Ancient Kilns, creating vessels that are rustic yet richly expressive. This Shigaraki-yaki noodle bowl was created in collaboration with "Meizan Kiln," a pottery with 400 years of history in Shigaraki that brings tradition to contemporary life. It features a wide rim and bulging bottom shape to accommodate plenty of ingredients. Using clay that is characteristically coarse Shigaraki yet refined in expression, it's finished with a warm texture suitable for various noodle dishes.

Handling Precautions

Notice
  • Microwave safe.
Before Use

To prevent dirt from getting into the cracks (fine cracks on the surface), we recommend the following sealing procedure:

  1. Put the rice washing water and the container in a pot and heat over medium heat
  2. Just before it boils, turn the heat down to low and simmer for about 15 minutes
  3. Turn off the heat and leave it in the rice washing water to cool to room temperature
  4. Wash thoroughly and dry thoroughly
When Using
  • Because it is sensitive to sudden temperature changes, avoid rapid heating and cooling. If you soak it in water and allow it to absorb enough moisture before using, it will be less likely to get stains or odors.
After Use
  • Although it is possible to use a dishwasher, we recommend hand washing to make it last longer. Overfilling the dishwasher may cause damage, so please use with care.
  • Wash with a soft sponge as strong rubbing with abrasive detergents or metal scrubbers may cause scratches.
  • Avoid soaking and after washing, wipe with a soft, dry cloth, dry thoroughly, and store in a well-ventilated place.
Other
  • Please be careful of chipping and cracking due to strong impact.
  • If cracks or fissures appear, discontinue use for safety reasons.
  • Cracks may appear during use, but this does not affect use, so please enjoy it as one of the textures.
  • Since it is finished by hand, there are individual differences in color and shape.
