Why not enhance your room with the fragrances of Kyoto by Kungyokudo, Japan's Oldest Incense Shop —for a refreshing start to your day, an afternoon mood change, or a relaxing moment before bedtime?

This collection features fifteen distinct scents inspired by Kyoto's famous places and specialties, created by blending traditional perfuming recipes primarily using natural ingredients with contemporary fragrance sensibilities.

The colourful incense sticks, each suggesting its corresponding fragrance, are the result of months of careful blending by artisans. The paper boxes are colour-coded to match their respective incense, making for a beautiful display when stacked to showcase their colours—a recommended storage option.

Kungyokudo: Japan's Oldest Incense Shop

Even within the realm of incense, there are many varieties—stick incense, literary incense, pressed incense, insect-repellent incense, and more. Kungyokudo, Japan's oldest incense purveyor located in Kyoto, has preserved and transmitted this Japanese fragrance culture for over 420 years. It was established in its current location during the Azuchi-Momoyama period in Bunroku 3 (1594) as a medicinal herb merchant serving Honganji Temple.
