A brass wind chime with a refreshing sound that brings a sense of coolness
Odawara Casting Wind Chimes have a different sound than glass wind chimes. Brass wind chimes have a light and crisp sound that lingers for a long time. The strips of paper are made of hemp, a material that symbolizes Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten, and have a cool look.

Handcrafted by the only foundry in Odawara
Odawara casting is one of the traditional arts and crafts that began in the castle town of Odawara during the Hojo period. It was known especially for the quality of its sound instruments such as bells and chimes. There used to be many foundries, but now the only one that remains is the Kashiwagi Art Institute, which makes wind chimes.

The deep, calm appearance that only casting can provide
There are two types: the "hanging bell type," which is modeled after the temple bells often seen in temples, and the "wind bell type," which is modeled after the bronze bells that are hung on the corners of the eaves of Buddhist halls and pagodas.

Traditional Patina for Timeless Appeal
While brass typically begins with a bright golden gleam, this wind chime starts with a richly subdued patina thanks to Odawara metalwork's traditional fumigation process. The mellowed finish harmonises beautifully with both classic Japanese homes and contemporary interiors. Perfect for your own seasonal enjoyment, as a thoughtful seasonal gift, or as a meaningful souvenir for international friends.
