Sturdy Sweeping with Thick Fibres - Fern and Black Bamboo Outdoor Broom.
This long-handled fern broom comes from Broom Craft's workshop in Wakayama prefecture. Designed for broad sweeping movements whilst standing upright, the thick, resilient fibres make it ideal for entrance ways, balconies, and outdoor areas.
The company is Shinkai Sangyo, which has been making palm ropes in Kainan, Wakayama Prefecture. Broom Craft was launched in 2020 to use the same palm to make traditional tools such as brooms. Kainan was originally a major producer of everyday items such as scrubbing brushes and brooms. Utilizing the procurement routes and discerning skills cultivated through palm rope production in this area, they create easy-to-use and beautiful cleaning tools using selected palm.
Total length: 123cm
- Fern brooms are mainly for outdoor use. Using indoors (on flooring, tatami, etc.) may cause scratches due to the hard fibers, so outdoor use is recommended.
- The "tama" (ball) in the product name refers to the number of "bundles" of palm fiber bound together.
- A cord is attached to the handle end, so hang it for storage when not in use. If left standing with the bristles touching the floor, they will develop a permanent bend and become difficult to sweep with.
- If the copper wire breaks, stop using immediately as it may cause injury.
- As this is a handmade product, size and shape may vary slightly.
- As a characteristic of natural fibers, the bristle tips may curl when dry. If bothersome, dampen slightly and dry before use.
- After use, hang in a cool place away from direct sunlight, avoiding rainwater and ensuring bristle tips don't touch the ground.
- If stored wet after cleaning around water areas, the bristles may develop permanent bends or mold may grow. Hang in a well-ventilated place and dry thoroughly before storage.
- For heavy soiling, use neutral detergent. After washing, dry in a well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight.

Fern and black bamboo outdoor broom with thick fibers for thorough sweeping
This is a long-handled fern broom made by Broom Craft in a workshop in Wakayama. It is a type that can be moved widely while standing. The fibers are thick and strong, so it is recommended for entrances, balconies, and outdoors.

Fern broom that is strong against large outdoor debris and mud
Outdoor cleaning is a tough environment for brooms, as fallen leaves and other plant debris contain pebbles, sand, dirt, and mud, and can even get wet. Fern has slightly thicker and stronger fibers, which allow it to catch outdoor dirt and dust. It is suitable for use at the entrance or outdoors, from balconies and wooden decks to concrete, tiles, artificial turf, and natural grass. The long-handled 5-ball type () is an easy-to-use size that can be held firmly with both hands and moved firmly, allowing you to clean large areas efficiently, and by using the tip vertically, you can also sweep out dirt that has accumulated in narrow spaces. The bundles that hold the ferns together are called "balls." The more balls there are, the wider the broom will be, and the larger the area you can sweep.

A unique manufacturing method based on Kyoto tradition
Brooms are household items that have been commonly used for a long time. Broom making was once practiced in Kyoto, but it disappeared in modern times. Broom Craft's brooms are made using a unique method that has been refined after studying the traditional Kyoto manufacturing method. The handles are made from black bamboo from Wakayama. They are beautiful to look at, and when hung they blend in with the scenery of modern balconies and wooden decks.
