A Material That Improves in Absorbency and Texture with Use

Kaya-ori fabric is woven with starch, giving it a crisp texture when new. After the first wash, the starch is removed, revealing the soft, fluffy character unique to Kaya-ori. With repeated washing, the fibres develop a slight nap, further enhancing the fabric's absorbency and softness.
