This is a palm trivet from Broom Craft, made in a workshop in Wakayama. It is made entirely of natural materials and can be used for a wide range of items other than pots, such as Nambu ironware and kettles.

This is a traditional, simple trivet made of natural materials, with palm wrapped around a wooden board. Palm has just the right amount of cushioning, is less likely to discolour due to heat, and is durable, while not easily damaging pots or tables, so it can be used for a long time. It can be used widely for pots and pans during cooking, clay pots on the table, and Nambu ironware iron kettles and kettles. It is also recommended for outdoor use such as barbecues and camping.

Handling Precautions

  • As natural palm fiber is used, powder and palm fibers may fall off initially. If bothersome, place newspaper underneath and shake off powder and fibers thoroughly before use.
  • As this is a handmade product, size and shape may vary slightly.
  • Water exposure may cause stains or discoloration. Do not use when wet.
  • While relatively heat-resistant, do not expose to direct flame.
  • Do not apply extreme impact loads as this may cause damage.
  • After use, store in a cool place away from direct sunlight.

A cleaning tool brand created by palm connoisseurs

Crafted by Shinkai Sangyo, a palm fibre rope manufacturer based in Kainan City, Wakayama Prefecture. In 2020, they launched Broom Craft to create traditional brooms using the same palm fiber materials. Kainan City has long been a major hub for producing everyday items like scrubbers and brooms. Drawing on their established sourcing connections and material expertise gained through palm rope production, they now create beautifully functional cleaning tools from premium selected palm fibre.
