A sturdy PC case from kiten.kyoto with a single layer of sashiko lining as an accent

This computer case is made from the same durable fabric used for hanten (traditional Japanese winter coats) by kiten.kyoto, a work tool brand that makes use of the techniques of flags, banners, and noren curtains that support Kyoto's townspeople culture. The bright colors of the outer fabric and the "single layer sashiko" lining make this a beautiful tool case.

A modern work tool case made using traditional techniques

Modern life is indispensable for PCs, mice, cables, chargers, earphones and other digital devices. Kiten.kyoto's HANTEN. series is a tool case that looks great in the modern workplace, protecting these devices that are often carried around while making use of Japanese traditions. The Sleeve (computer case) is compatible with 13-14 inch PCs. It is vertical and can be easily inserted and removed from the top, and its simple structure with a magnet fastening makes it easy to use even if you just put it in your backpack. It is made of durable 100% cotton fabric, and cotton is sandwiched between the layers to increase cushioning.

Traditional color outer fabric and single layer sashiko lining used for firefighter hanten

The outer fabric is made in four traditional Japanese colors. Indigo (AI), Yellow (KIHADA), Bengara (BENGARA), and Deep Green (FUKAMIDORI), all of which are attractive for their vivid hues. The lining is made of "Hitoe Sashiko", a thick fabric made by weaving cotton threads alternately. It is a durable fabric that has been used in the past for firefighter hanten coats and in modern times for martial arts uniforms. The beautiful fabric, with its unevenness that makes it look like the thick sashiko threads are raised, peeks out every time you take it in or out. It is a playful design inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of "Uramasari", which deliberately places the highlights on the back.

Modern work tools proposed by Kato Kenkiten, which bring together Kyoto craftsmanship to create "pride" and "uniqueness"

The products are made by Kato Takeshi Hataten, which was founded in Kyoto in 1950. They are producers, so to speak, who work with various craftsmen and workshops to create completely custom-made products such as flags, curtains, noren, happi coats, hanten coats, and banners that represent the pride and uniqueness of shops, temples, shrines, and towns. The "kiten.kyoto" brand was born in 2023 to propose modern work tools based on the image of the coolness of townspeople wearing happi coats and hanten coats. The brand name contains the meaning of supporting someone's serious work ("Yori" and "So" = kiten) and supporting the starting point (= kiten). In Kyoto, where townspeople culture lives and breathes, the brand is unique to Kato Takeshi Hataten, which has continued to make cool products without any compromise.
