"Makiji"—textured lacquer— is one of the traditional base preparation techniques in lacquerware.
While standard base layers are typically created by mixing lacquer with polishing powder, the makiji technique involves applying lacquer directly to the wood base and sprinkling polishing powder onto the surface before it dries.
This creates a distinctively rough, casual texture that effectively conceals scratches, making it an ideal bowl for everyday use.
Package: φ13.3×8.8cm
Proper Usage
- After use, do not leave in hot water for extended periods. Wash with lukewarm water or a soft sponge with neutral kitchen detergent, then wipe with a soft cloth.
- Cannot be used in dishwashers.
- Cannot be used on direct flame, in microwaves, or ovens.
- Avoid use in refrigerators.
- Avoid using or storing in direct sunlight or extremely dry places.
- To maintain good luster, do not wipe forcefully - remove dust first, then wipe lightly with a soft cloth.
- For fingerprints, breathe on the surface and wipe with a soft cloth.
- The smell of new lacquerware will disappear completely if placed in a rice bin for a few days.
Precautions
- Please use the bowl correctly according to its intended purpose and usage.
- As each piece is handcrafted by artisans and uses natural materials, there are individual variations in color and texture.
- In very rare cases depending on constitution, paint or lacquer may cause rashes. If this occurs, consult a dermatologist immediately.
About Repairs
