Takayama Chasen by Tango Tanimura of Wabokudo.
This chasen (tea whisk) is crafted by Tango Tanimura of Wabokudo. Each piece of Nara bamboo – perfectly suited to Japan's climate – is carefully shaved wafer-thin, preserving the bamboo fibres and creating flexible, resilient tips with exceptional durability.
In Takayama, chasen-making techniques are passed down through direct father-to-son transmission. Since the work is accomplished almost entirely with a small knife and fingertips, it's known as ""fingertip artistry.""

【Tango Tanimura】
Born in Takayama, Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture in 1964, he is the twentieth-generation head of the Tanimura family, preserving the same ancestral secrets passed down through direct lineage.
Takayama has been a major chasen production centre since the Muromachi period. The Wabokudo Tanimura family has continued chasen crafting for over 500 years, earning the ""Tango"" name from the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period.
