The Moon Floating on Osawa Pond in Kyoto's Sagano

During the Heian period, aristocrats would hold elegant moon-viewing banquets at Osawa Pond in Sagano, Kyoto, where they composed poetry and enjoyed boat excursions.

The moon would sparkle brilliantly in the night sky while also shimmering as a reflection on the pitch-black pond. This incense dish and stand are inspired by the atmospheric image of the moon reflected on the water's surface.

Suitable for Pressed Incense Too

The brass incense stand, modelled after the shining moon, features both a hole for stick incense and a groove for pressed incense, making it versatile for either type. It is designed to be placed on the jet-black 'pond' incense dish, representing the gleaming moon above dark waters
