Philippe Weisbecker, an artist and illustrator based in Paris and Barcelona, captivates audiences with his distinctive perspective, expressive linework, and geometric forms that somehow radiate unexpected warmth. His illustrations of zodiac-themed folk toys grace these Echizen lacquerware sake vessels, featuring a unique colour palette that layers the twelve zodiac animals with the colours of the Four Divine Beasts. Each piece is meticulously hand-lacquered at Shitsurindo in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, where the craft of urushi application has been preserved for two centuries.
