Notice

●Since each piece is made from natural wood and finished by hand, there will be individual differences.

●As this product is unpainted, color may change or stains may appear over time.

●If pilling or stains are a concern, sand the surface with water-resistant sandpaper (approximately 200-400 grit) while moistening it with water.

A butter knife inspired by the form of the shamoji.

Created in collaboration with Miyajima Kogei Seisakusho, makers of the Miyajima rice paddle—a local specialty of Miyajima, Hiroshima—this butter spreader is designed for ease of use. Drawing on the familiar form of the shamoji, a traditional Japanese kitchen tool, it features a broad, flat surface. It spreads butter smoothly, and also makes it easy to slice or shave butter, offering a comfortable, practical feel in use.

An uncoated finish that allows the character of the wood to deepen over time.

The wide blade is paired with a slender handle, allowing it to fit neatly into the slots of standard butter dishes. Each piece is carefully carved from Japanese cherry wood and left uncoated. With continued use, the wood deepens in colour and develops a gentle sheen, encouraging long-term use and enjoyment.
