We have created chopsticks with wiped lacquer together with Urushi Rindo, a company that was founded in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture in the mid-Edo period and has been carrying on the tradition of Echizen lacquerware for generations.

The chopsticks are octagonal in shape, making them easy to hold and less slippery. The durable and water-resistant ironwood is finished with wiped lacquer, which makes use of the wood grain, and the top part is finished with a glossy true coating technique.

Enjoy the expression of the wood grain, the transparent color, and the gentle texture.
It is said that one side of the chopsticks is used by people and the other by gods, and they are said to bridge people's wishes to the gods.

The sign of joy, which is made up of the number seven lined up on the obi wrap, is a sign of joyful items, with the hope that the user will be filled with joy.

Handling Precautions

  • Avoid use in dishwashers, dryers, or microwaves.
  • Scrubbing hard with abrasive cleaners or metal scrubbers may peel or damage the coating surface. Wash with lukewarm water or cold water using a soft sponge with neutral kitchen detergent.
  • Avoid soaking. After washing, wipe with a soft dry cloth and store after drying thoroughly in a well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight.
  • If the unique odor of the coating is bothersome, place in a well-ventilated area for several days and the odor will naturally fade.
  • Excessive impact may cause damage, so please use correctly according to the product's intended purpose.
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes as they can cause coating peeling, deformation, cracking, or damage.
  • As each piece is handcrafted, there are individual variations in color and shape.
  • In very rare cases depending on constitution, paint or lacquer may cause rashes. If this occurs, stop using immediately and consult a dermatologist.
  • Stop using if cracks or fissures appear for safety reasons.
  • Lacquer becomes lighter in color over time. Depending on usage conditions and duration, lacquer may also peel off. Please enjoy this as the natural aging of lacquer products.
