A plate for grilled fish, created with a local kiln
Shigaraki is counted among Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns and remains one of the country’s leading ceramic regions. This plate was created in collaboration with a local Shigaraki kiln for serving grilled fish. Its elongated form offers just the right length and width for grilled fish, while the distinctive shape adds a quiet accent to the table and works equally well for other dishes.
An elongated form that feels balanced on the table
The fish plate measures 26cm in length, making it suitable not only for fillets but also for slightly longer fish such as horse mackerel, served whole. Though generously sized, it never feels oversized on the table thanks to its octagonal form with softly cut corners. The gently raised rim helps prevent sauces or juices from spilling.
Versatile beyond grilled fish
Available in two colours, off-white and amber, both chosen to complement and enhance food. The underside is left unglazed and stamped with Nakagwa’s “seven” mark. While ideal for grilled fish, this slender plate is also useful for arranging side dishes, serving baked sweets, or for both everyday meals and casual entertaining.
