Nara's traditional craft "kaya-ori" is a loosely woven, lightweight textile that has been used since before the Nara period to make mosquito nets (kaya) — fabric fine enough to let the breeze through, but not the mosquitoes. This cotton kaya-ori cloth is generously layered eight sheets thick and sewn together, resulting in a dishcloth with exceptional absorbency that is durable enough to last for years.
