This Nambu iron kettle features the refined design of furniture designer Makoto Koizumi. Unlike traditional Nambu iron kettles, this piece achieves sophisticated elegance with commanding presence whilst harmonising beautifully with surrounding interiors – an exceptional design achievement.
The kettle's interior features an oxidised coating that prevents rust, whilst maintaining the practical benefit of natural iron supplementation through iron dissolution – a distinctive property of iron vessels. It also retains the characteristic clean-pouring quality that Nambu iron kettles are renowned for.

Handling Precautions

When Using for the First Time
  • Before use, rinse 2-3 times, boil water once, discard it, then begin use.
  • The iron kettle should only be used for boiling water. Do not add tea leaves or medicinal herbs when boiling water. (The water may become cloudy.)
  • Be careful as it becomes very hot during and after heating.
Usage Precautions
  • Compatible heat sources: Gas flame, induction cooker, ceramic heater, halogen heater (microwave not compatible)
  • After use, promptly discard any remaining hot water and ensure no moisture remains. This can cause rust.
  • If necessary, after use, remove the lid and dry-heat for 30 seconds to 1 minute to remove residual moisture.
  • Store wrapped in newspaper etc. in a place with low humidity.
  • If rust occurs, water boiled in a rusty iron kettle is not harmful to the body, so continue using as normal. If the rust is particularly bothersome, wrap tea leaves in a tea bag and boil together. Repeat this 2-3 times. Then boil with water only 2-3 times until the water becomes clear. The spout and inside of the lid are particularly prone to rust, so scrub these areas with a cloth soaked in tea.
